We are seeking a Woodlands Forester or Technologist to join our Woodlands Department. This is an entry-level position and is based out of the Canoe Forest Products Division near Salmon Arm, BC. This position will, at times, include travel to and work related to Gorman Bros. Lumber (West Kelowna) and Downie Timber (Revelstoke). SALARY RANGE: $62,400 to $83,200 per year dependent on education and experience.

KEY ROLES:

Reporting to the Planning Manager, the Woodlands Forester/Technologist duties include:

  • Work related to cutting permit and road development,
  • Assisting in preparation of cutting permit appraisals and post-harvest appraisal reconciliation,
  • Site plan preparation,
  • Field reviews with first nations, government, contractors, and consultants,
  • Road inspections,
  • Forest data management (Pheonix),
  • Environmental Management System training and inspections,
  • Silviculture surveys and contract supervision,
  • Harvesting inspections,
  • Being part of a positive and inclusive work culture, pursuing professional growth, and supporting team members, and
  • Other duties as required within Gorman Group Woodlands.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Forestry, Environmental Science, or similar.
  • Registered with the Forest Professionals of BC as an RPF, RFT, FIT, ASFIT, TFT, or ASTFT.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a related role in the forestry or other natural resource-based sector.
